Sahl Hasheesh Resort Development Project, Hurghada, Egypt
For the Egyptian Resort Company, Arthur Consulting Group International conducted a detailed market and financial feasibility study for the development of an 800-acre site in Sahl Hasheesh, on the Red Sea Coast of Egypt. The project included such components as hotels, tourist villages, villas for sale, town center, casino, marina, shopping complex, two 18-hole golf courses, and housing for permanent employees. - - 1998

Chungju City Strategic Tourism Plan, South Korea
Arthur Consulting Group International helped Sasaki Associates create a strategic tourism plan for the Chungju City region of South Korea, a large area that includes a major lake, important river, mountains, historical and cultural attractions, and agricultural areas. ACGI was responsible for analyzing the tourism product, identifying the most important domestic and international tourism markets, assessing market demand and competition, and providing input to the overall strategy. - - 1999

Feasibility Study for the BOT Airport in Farafra, Egypt
For ABB Airport Technologies GmbH, Arthur Consulting Group International prepared a detailed feasibility study, which included the analysis of the economic situation and tourism trends in Egypt, potential demand for the airport in Faraffa, possible strategies for attracting foreign and domestic tourists to the area and, finally, detailed 12 year financial projections. -- 1999

Impact Studies
Choice Hotels International and Best Western International, Inc. have engaged Arthur Consulting Group International on several occasions to conduct impact studies used to grant or deny a franchise application. Market mix, sources of room night demand, reservations procedures, denials, and cancellation and deposit forfeiture policies are considered in determining total and incremental impact on rooms revenue.

Odebrecht Tourism Estate, Porto Sauipe, Brazil
For Odebrecht S.A. Arthur Consulting Group International conducted the feasibility study for the Porto Sauipe Tourist Park. The site development plans call for the construction of seven hotels, a theme park, equestrian center, golf course, tennis club, and retail area/amenity core. A full market, economic and financial study was conducted, which included field research in primary outbound countries, a pre-tax and after-tax investment analysis of the project, and sensitivity analysis for the hotel element -- 1995.

Partial Timeshare Conversion at the Aruba Wyndham
For Aruba Hotel Enterprises, Arthur Consulting Group International performed the feasibility study for the conversion of 88 out 444 keys to timeshare at the Aruba Wyndham. The report included a full analysis of the timeshare market in the Caribbean and Aruba, patterns of visitation to the Island, a build-up of required on-site and OPC lead generation, and the development of a model to estimate timeshare interval prices -- 1996.

Prospects for Future Growth of Tourism in Aruba
Arthur Consulting Group was engaged to evaluate the future outlook for tourism in Aruba and the viability of increasing Aruba's hotel capacity. Commissioned by the Government of Aruba, the assignment involved the assessment of: the overall economy of Aruba; the fiscal burden on the tourism industry; immigration laws (due to the need to import workers in an extremely tight labor market); policies relating to cruise ships; international promotional efforts and other related issues such as a moratorium on new hotel construction and attitude towards timeshare development -- 1994.

Strategic Plan for the Development of Tourism in El Salvador
This was a major study to develop a strategic plan to develop a significant visitor services industry for El Salvador which was severely affected by 12 years of civil conflict. ACGI's assignment was to develop an action plan which would: establish tourism as a leading sector of the economy on par with agriculture and light manufacturing; create jobs for Salvadoreans; bring in significant amounts of foreign exchange; unite the political and economic factions under this shared effort; protect the historical, cultural and natural environment; disperse economic activity away from the highly congested areas around San Salvador; and promote foreign private investment in the tourism sector -- 1994.

Economic Impact of Tourism on Jamaica
For the Organization of American States (OAS), Arthur Consulting Group, Inc. was appointed the lead consultant to determine the impact of tourism on the economy of Jamaica. The central objective of the study was to provide government and private industry policy makers with up-to-date and reliable information on the contribution of the tourism industry to the national economy. Specifically, the study aimed to establish the impact of tourism on: Jamaica's Gross Domestic Product through value added; the country's foreign exchange earnings; net contributions, i.e., cost versus benefits, after all public and private sector expenditures in tourism facilities are taken into account; regional economics; and the real impact of cruise tourism -- 1993/1994.

Tourism Planning In Cuba
For the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Arthur Consulting Group undertook an assignment aimed at protecting biodiversity and establishing sustainable development of the Sabana-Camaguey ecosystem as a basic resource for a significant expansion of the tourism industry. This detailed planning study was financed partly under the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and will be followed up by technical assistance to the Academy of Sciences of Cuba and to tourism planners to adopt environmentally sound approaches to development -- 1993.

Tourism Policy in the Republic of Haiti
ACG consultants were asked by the Haiti Hotel and Tourism Association to evaluate the existing state of the tourism industry in the Republic of Haiti and to make recommendations regarding the reorganization of the existing body governing tourism policy on the island. The project involved evaluating the tourist attributes of the island including historic buildings and monuments, arts and crafts, existing tourist infrastructure, and the country's natural features and assessing their potential for attracting visitors; collecting and analyzing data regarding previous levels of tourism; assessing the existing supply of hotels on the island; and interviewing public and private individuals involved in the tourism industry in Haiti. Based on the information that we collected and our observations, recommendations were made for the formation of a Tourism Council consisting of Government and private sector representatives to establish policy and direct the implementation of approved tourism related programs -- 1992.

Formulation of Tourism Policy and Study of Foreign Exchange Impact for the Dominican Republic
Commissioned by the World Tourism Organization, ACG consultants assisted the Dominican Republic in formulating its tourism policy and in studying the impact of tourism on the country's foreign exchange earnings. The study entitled "Strategies for Development of Tourism in the 1990's" provides numerous strategic options for the Dominican Republic to improve its tourism industry. The analysis of the foreign exchange policy was aimed at helping to reducing the severe problem of foreign currency leakage of tourism earnings from the economy, largely attributed to suppliers in the tourism industry -- 1992.

World Bank Mission to Study the Tourism Sector in Jordan
ACG was represented in a four member team sent by the World Bank to assess the tourism sector of the Heshimite Kingdom of Jordan, as requested by H.E. the Minister of Planning and H.E. the Minister of Tourism. The study called for an analysis of Jordan's tourism potential and prospects for new development. The impact of tourism on the economy, and the policy framework and measures needed to encourage private sector investments were also analyzed -- 1992.

Tourism Priority Action Plan for Egypt
Charged with development of tourism in undeveloped areas of the Sinai peninsula, the Red Sea and the Luxor-Aswan Corridor, the Ministry of Tourism of Egypt selected a team of consulting firms led by consultants from Arthur Consulting Group to provide market analysis, design and development criteria, economic analysis, and infrastructure planning. The emphasis was on development of a promotional financial institution to spear-head implementation and a program to present major investment opportunities in both the private and public sectors to the international financial community and to developers of hotels and related facilities -- 1991/1992.

South Pacific Tourism Development Study
The International Finance Corporation asked ACG consultants to conduct an extensive tourism study in several South Pacific island nations (Fiji, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu and Western Samoa). This study included an overview of the existing tourism sector in these island nations, identification of deficiencies of support infrastructure, and required organization for international marketing, as well as reviewing present tourist attractions and accommodations. Major sources of tourism demand for the existing product were identified and quantified. Also included in this study was a competitive analysis of each country's tourism industry -- 1991/1992.
